Want perfectly groomed eyebrows? We share our top perfect eyebrow tips, with the pros and cons of waxing, plucking, threading, and tweezing, plus tips on finding your natural brow shape.

Perfect eyebrows
Did you know that your eyebrows can change the entire way your face looks? Whether you're happy, sad, confused or angry, your brows will usually convey your mood first.
In order to keep this major facial feature looking its best, many girls (and well-groomed guys!) opt to use techniques to maintain and shape the brow area. If this seems like a daunting task to you, I promise it's not. Below, I'll give you three easy tips for getting perfect eyebrows:

1. Figure out which method works for you.

There are three common methods for eyebrow maintenance. I've tried all three, so I thought I'd share my opinion on each in order to help you choose the right method for your own eyebrows. If you want to learn more about each one, as well as some pros and cons, read on:
Waxing
This is one of the most common methods of hair removal. If you're going to get your eyebrows waxed, make sure you go to a licensed esthetician or cosmetologist who is specifically trained in waxing or hair removal. This assures that you will be getting the best possible service with someone who knows how to work with your natural brow shape.
Waxing is the fastest method of hair removal and can keep hair from growing back for two to six weeks. I personally don't find waxing painful, but I know that it can be for some. Another thing to keep in mind with this method is that wax can easily irritate sensitive skin and, if kept too hot, can also potentially burn your skin. Cost is also a factor to consider and can vary depending on where you live.
Threading
Threading is a method of hair removal that originated in India, where-- as the name suggests-- a thin cotton thread is used to remove hair. The process is similar to tweezing, except multiple hairs can be removed at one time. If you're curious, you can check out a video about threading . This is another method where you need to find someone who is a specifically trained practitioner.
This is the most precise method of hair removal and will not irritate your skin. I did find threading to be slightly more painful than waxing, but it was worth it because my brows looked so great! Again, cost is a factor to consider and unlike waxing, threading is not as widely available across the country.
Pros: Precision, Great for sensitive skin, Long-lasting
Cons: Cost, Pain, Unavailability
Tweezing
Tweezing is a great choice if you're looking to save money, but it may take some practice to become a pro. Plucking is virtually painless, albeit a bit time consuming, as you have to maintain the brows every few days. If you're going to tweeze, I recommend investing some money in a great pair of tweezers . They may seem expensive, but high-quality tweezers are more precise, which will give you a cleaner brow in less time.
Pros: Inexpensive, Painless
Cons: Time consuming, High maintenance

2. Find your eyebrow shape.

After you've figured out your preferred method for eyebrow maintenance, now it's time to find your natural eyebrow shape. This chart shows the five basic eyebrow shapes most people have naturally:

Eyebrow Shape Chart
Once you find your eyebrow shape, use it as a guide for maintaining your eyebrows. The first step to having great brows is to follow your natural shape when you get your eyebrows groomed. Don't try and change your shape (i.e. flat to angled) because then your eyebrows can look strange and out of place.
The next step is to find your natural arch, with the help of the diagram below:

brow diagram
B corresponds to where your natural arch is, while A and C refer to where your eyebrow should begin and end. Following this diagram is essential for well-maintained and natural brows.
If you decided to use waxing or threading, just tell the practitioner to follow your natural shape and arch-- they'll know what to do. However, if you want to pluck your eyebrows yourself, check out this video by one of our favorite makeup gurus, Michelle Phan, on tweezing to achieve natural-looking brows:

3. Keep it natural!

As I mentioned earlier, the key to having great eyebrows is to work with what you naturally have. That means following your basic shape and natural arch. Of course, accidents do happen, and if your eyebrows get too thin or over-plucked, don't underestimate the power of a great brow pencil orpowder. They are also great products to own if you have naturally sparse or light-colored brows.
Just remember, eyebrow trends may come and go, but looking well-groomed, natural and polished is always in style.

What do you think?

How do you groom your eyebrows? What methods have you tried? Do you have any great tips that you would like to share? Be sure to leave a comment and let me know your thoughts!

6 EXPERT TIPS FOR CHOOSING THE RIGHT FACIAL OIL

In case you couldn’t tell from our roundup of February’s best beauty launches—or our latest logo design—we’re totally crazy about facial oils right now.

Not only do they make killer cleansers, moisturizers, and spot treatments, but they’re beneficial for every skin type, from dry and sensitive to—yes, really—oily and acne prone.

ULTA coupon code 2016By using ULTA 20% off entire purrchase Coupon Codes & ULTA coupons, customers can get full of our services at better price. Try ULTA coupon code 20% off  entire purrchase 2016 to get value and convenience with distinctive environment and experience.

The only part that’s not ideal: Sifting through all of the seemingly awesome options in this huge beauty category to find the best one for you. (Can someone invent a Tinder for skin care, already?)

In search of some guidance, we turned to natural beauty activist Jessica Assaf, co-editor of clean skin-care blog BeautyLiesTruth and co-founder of Raw is Everything, a newly launched line of organic, cold-pressed, unrefined, single-ingredient skin oils ($45-$55). “Facial oils can do everything we want in a skin-care routine,” she says. “You’ve just got to know your ingredients and where they come from to experience really remarkable results.”

Keep reading to learn how to read a face oil label like a pro, and you’ll be swiping right on your perfect match in no time.

Raw is Everything oils

1. Shop for oils like you’d shop for juice

The first thing to look for, says Assaf, is an oil that’s cold-pressed, unrefined, and organic—for all the same reasons you’d seek those things out in a kale/apple/lemon blend. “Cold-pressed oils have 700 percent more bioactive compounds than those conventionally extracted with heat,” she says, adding that it’s important to go organic to avoid pesticides. To ensure those clean and potent ingredients stay that way, look for oils bottled in dark glass. “Exposure to light and heat will damage the oil,” Assaf explains.

2. Do the sight-and-smell test

Not sure if an oil is unrefined? When in doubt, sniff it out. “A lot of oils say they’re organic, but if the color is really light and you can’t smell the oil, it’s likely refined and you’re losing the majority of the benefits,” says Assaf. “Also, if the oil has an expiration date of five years, you know it’s not unrefined.” Yes, that means you should be reading the labels on your beauty bottles like you do your almond milk.

3. Consider your skin type

This is advice worth memorizing: Assaf says those with oily skin should opt for a dry oil like rosehip or jojoba, while dry skin is best served by something richer, like passion fruit seed or marula oil. And if you’re battling inflamed or sensitive skin, tamanu oil is tops. “It’s been used for hundreds of years by Polynesian women to clear acne and reduce the appearance of scars,” she explains, adding that it’s also good for eczema and redness. “It’s a richer oil, so it works best as night treatment.”
Those with oily skin should opt for rosehip or jojoba, while dry skin is best served by passion fruit seed or marula oil.

4. Think about what’s going on after

“Once you start layering you have to think about how all of the ingredients are interacting,” says Assaf, who notes that unfavorable interactions can cancel out each individual product’s positive effects. That includes sunscreen, the healthy girl’s daily staple. The good news: Certain single-ingredient oils, like Raw is Everything’s raspberry seed Antioxidant Treatment ($45), may offer serious UV protection and can be used on their own to both moisturize and protect. Although it’s not FDA-approved like a traditional sunscreen, Assaf cites a scientific journal article that indicates raspberry seed oil could have a natural SPF of 30 to 50, and carrot seed oil could have a natural SPF of 38 to 40. If it saves us a minute in the morning, we’ll take it.

5. Avoid red-flag fillers

According to Assaf, water is often the first ingredient in commercial face oils—and if that seems counterproductive, well, it is. “That means the product needs tons of very strong preservatives because water [breeds] mold,” she says. She also warns against buying oils that are petroleum-derived—telltale ingredients include petrolatum and mineral oil—or that have grape seed oil high on the list. “Grape seed oil is cooking oil. It’s not going to have the most [topical] benefits,” she explains. “Look for oils where the [active] ingredient is the first ingredient.”

6. Seek out short ingredient lists

You might think the more oils in a blend, the better, but Assaf stresses that three or less is usually best. “It’s a question of dilution,” she says. “When you think about a product with, say, 22 different oils in it, what’s the majority made up of?” She notes that long ingredient lists can also prove problematic for sensitive skin. “If you have an allergic reaction to a product and there are 10 ingredients in it, you have no idea what you’re allergic to,” she says. “Over 50 percent of women claim they have sensitive skin, so this is a huge issue.” If that’s the case for you, she recommends choosing a single oil and using it in isolation for two weeks to find out how it impacts your skin. And If it doesn’t work for you, drop it like a bad dating app and move on to the next one.

Natural hair masks are an excellent way to treat dull and dry hair at home.
Dry hair can be easily identified with split ends and excessive hair breakage. They get damaged and break easily. If you are looking a cure for your frizzy, dull, rough hair, a homemade hair mask can help you out here! There are many natural things such as avocado, egg, yogurt which can prevent dryness by nourishing your locks with needed moisture. Dry hair suffers with lack of oil and moisture which makes them brittle and frizzy. For soft, shiny, and silky hair, check out these mask recipes:

Avocado

  1. Peel a ripe avocado and mash it. In a bowl, beat it with olive oil. (Note: Do not add olive oil if your hair is color treated. Olive oil has the tendency to lighten highlights. So, in this case, you can substitute with almond oil or jojoba oil.)
  2. Wet your hair before applying hair mask. Apply the mask to the scalp and hair ends. Make sure you tuck your hair into a shower cap after application of hair mask.
  3. After around 25 to 30 minutes, run your fingers through your hair and massage the scalp.
  4. Rinse off, and enjoy your soft and manageable hair!
Benefits
  • The fleshy, high fiber content of this butter fruit makes its application easy on the hair.
  • A ripe avocado is a great moisturizer for skin and hair, and it's loaded with lots of nutrients and vitamins.
  • This fruit's natural oil acts as a deep conditioner for dull hair.
  • It can be used alone or with other ingredients in a hair mask.

Egg

If you straighten your hair all the time and use harsh chemicals, this homemade egg and olive oil hair mask will help to smooth your hair.
  1. Take two eggs and 4 tablespoons of olive oil and blend together well.
  2. Apply to hair for 20 to 25 minutes. Make sure you wear a shower cap whenever you apply a hair mask, as plastic wraps help trap in the moisture and as a result your hair gets better hydration.
  3. Rinse off the mask, and you will find your hair thoroughly conditioned and shiny.
Warning: You should not use hot water to wash off the mix! Hot water makes egg difficult to rinse from the hair, because warm water partially cooks and hardens it, making it harder to rinse off. Make sure you use cold or room temperature water.
Benefits
  • Many people like to crack them on their head because eggs makes the hair extra shiny and smooth.
  • Eggs are a simple remedy for the damaged and dry hair. The high protein content found in them is useful to strengthen hair follicles.
  • The nutrients in eggs act as a deep conditioner that helps to add shine and texture to dull hair.

Banana

To add loads of moisture to your flaky, dull and dry hair, you can try banana mask for hair. Apply this once a week for healthy and shiny hair.
  1. Take one or two ripe bananas (according to hair length) and blend it. If the pulp is too thick, add a tablespoon of milk to it. The pulp should be smooth with no chunks or lumps with in it. (You can also add a tablespoon of olive oil).
  2. Dampen your hair before applying the mask. Apply the mashed mixture to the roots, scalp, hair, and hair ends.
This is more effective than expensive treatments in spas and parlors.
Benefits
  • Banana moisturizing properties are beneficial for dry and rough hair.
  • The fruit is rich in minerals and vitamins help to strengthen damaged hair.
  • It also gives the required moisture to hair, which helps in preventing breakage and split ends. Regular application of this on hair improves the overall health of hair.
  • It can also be helpful in treating dandruff.

Honey and Olive Oil

This mask is good for both hair and the scalp. It will make your hair silky, smooth, and shiny.
  1. Add equal parts honey and olive oil into a bowl. Mix well.
  2. Apply to damp hair, scalp, and cover your hair with a warm, damp towel.
  3. Let it sit for 30 minutes, and then wash off with a mild shampoo.
Benefits
  • Honey can easily hold the moisture in your hair, and is perfect for hair care.
  • Honey and olive oil both will infuse moisture and help to repair split ends and control dandruff.
  • This mask also helps to improve the manageability of rough hair, adding an extra shine to it.

Yogurt

This is one of the easiest masks to make.
  1. Take a cup of yogurt and whip it up.
  2. Apply it onto your scalp, hair, and hair ends.
  3. Let it sit for 20 minutes with a plastic cap on.
  4. Wash your hair with a mild shampoo.
Notes:
  • You can also make a yogurt and egg version by beating an egg into the yogurt.
  • Yogurt has cooling properties so this one is recommended for summers.
Benefits
  • Yogurt or yoghurt is full of lactic acid. Anti-fungal and antibacterial agents found in yogurt makes it a great hair mask.
  • Besides moisturizing dry and damaged hair, it has numerous benefits for hair. It helps to get rid of dandruff, clean your scalp, reduces itchiness, and gives overall strength to your hair.

Hot Oil Treatment

To restore health and strength, you can try applying hot oil weekly to your hair as a beauty routine.
  • A good head massage with hot oil (coconut oil, avocado oil, olive oil, or almond oil are all good) improves the blood circulation of the scalp, giving enough moisture to dull and dry hair to maintain their shine and softness.
  • A hair dryer, irons, overexposure to sun makes your hair dry, fragile and weak. Hot oil can help repair this.
  1. First of all, wash your hair so that it's clean. Hair should be dirt free so that the hot oil can penetrate easily in hair follicles.
  2. Warm up your oil and massage the lukewarm oil to the scalp and wet hair with your fingers.
  3. Cover or wrap your head with a hot towel, shield this hot towel with a second towel to trap the heat.
  4. Leave in for an hour and then rinse out with shampoo.

Tips

  • If you have thick, rough, dry and dull hair, avoid styling products on hair.
  • You should shampoo less—maybe once or twice a week.
  • All the ingredients in these homemade hair masks can be found in your kitchen or a local grocery store.
Treating frizzy and damaged hair the natural way is often more effective than chemical products. Choose one that best suits your needs, and enjoy the difference!

STYLING PRODUCT SAVVY HELPS RESTORE DAMAGED HAIR

Hot water can damage hair, so wash your hair with lukewarm or cool water, and finish the shampoo process with a shot of cool water. Cool or cold water can help damaged hair by closing the hair cuticle and causing the hair shafts to lie flat, resulting in shinier, smoother hair.

If your hair has damage due to build-up from product, hard water deposits and minerals, a good clarifying shampoo can help. How frequently you need to remove build-up depends on how hard the water is that comes from your tap, and the products you use on your hair. Build-up is a serious issue and can cause damaged hair to be limp and lifeless and cause the ends to split and feel brittle. Typically, a clarifying shampoo and treatment should be used just once or twice a month.

When selecting a conditioner for damaged hair, look for those with moisturizers such as aloe vera, glycerol, panthenol or proteins. Active components such as macadamia nut oil, argan oil or shea butter coat each strand of hair with a fine protective layer that helps repair the cuticle. This helps damaged hair look healthier and thicker.

6. STYLING PRODUCT SAVVY HELPS RESTORE DAMAGED HAIR

When restoring damaged hair, keep hairstyles simple and stick to those that don’t require a lot of product to hold them in place. Applying a leave-in fortifying spray on wet hair is a good way to prepare the hair for styling or the stress of the day and protect it from environmental factors. A detangling spray can help protect damaged hair while brushing. Spritz it on before brushing wet hair to avoid further damage to tresses.

When you do use styling products, check the labels so that you know what they contain. Stay away from hair products that have high levels of alcohol or peroxide, and stick with products that are gentle.

Use a light oil, pomade, mousse or gel to control frizz, and look for styling products that will reinforce damaged hair by infusing protein, amino acids and other strengthening properties. If necessary, finish with a light hairspray.

7. Bringing Out the Big Guns: Use Treatment Masks to Rescue Damaged Hair

When shopping for a hydrating treatment for damaged hair, look for products that have restorative, moisturizing ingredients, such as olive oil, keratin, protein or shea butter, and avoid products that contain silicone or parabens. Twice a week, apply the treatment or mask and leave it on for a full hour, using a plastic shower cap to help the product penetrate. Additionally, once a week you can apply the treatment in the shower after shampooing. Leave it on for three to five minutes for quick hydration and then rinse it out.

Oil treatments are another option to repair dry, damaged hair. They are simple to do at home and infuse damaged hair with moisture and shine. Apply the treatment oil of choice to clean, towel-dried hair. Cover your hair with a shower cap or plastic wrap, and apply heat by sitting in the sun, using a hot towel or using your blow dryer. After heating the oil, allow hair to cool at room temperature, and then rinse with cool water. Reparative oil treatments can be done one to three times per month on damaged hair depending upon need. Proper use of these treatments can increase elasticity to damaged hair and create sheen. But be careful--overuse might cause your hair to look greasy with ULTA Hair Care Products

8. Protect Your Damaged Hair In the Pool and Under the Sun

Are you a swimmer? Then always wear a swim cap in the pool. Chlorine causes hair damage that builds up over time. If you do go swimming without a cap, wash the chlorine out right away with a gentle shampoo.
Don’t sit in the sun after swimming without a cap or hat; the sun’s rays will compound the damage to your hair done by chlorine. Or, wash your hair before you sunbathe if you’ve been in the pool and use sunscreen on your part to avoid burning and peeling on your scalp line. Although the sun’s exposure is more intense during the summer months, it shines all year round. After a long day in the sun due to an athletic event, a hike or a day at the beach, consider giving your hair a hydrating treatment to avoid additional hair damage.
Signs of sun damage to your hair can include dry hair with brittle or broken ends, faded hair color, frizz and weakened or thinning hair.

9. Body Health Leads to Hair Health

Maintaining good overall health can help damaged hair get healthy along with the rest of your being. As with your entire body, your hair is affected by what you eat and drink. Make sure to consume lots of water, vitamins and essential nutrients. A diet rich in lean meats and other proteins, vegetables, fruits and low-fat dairy help keeps hair happy.
Omega-3 fatty acids are good for hair and skin and can be found in salmon, walnuts and flaxseeds. Fruits and vegetables such as spinach, kale, carrots and avocados also target hair health.
Supplements can help fill in the gaps for a less-than-perfect diet and get your damaged hair onto the road to recovery. You can even try taking prenatal supplements to promote healthy hair growth.

9 Ways to Repair, Treat & Fix Damaged Hair

Sadly, hair can be damaged relatively quickly, but bringing it back to good health can take some time. Don’t fret: the pros at Matrix offer tips on how to restore your damaged hair tresses as lickety-split as possible. Check ULTA Styling Producsts with  ULTA 20 off entire purchase.

1. Early Detection is Key to Fix Damaged Hair
Is your hair dry and dull? Do you have split ends and frizz? Scalp acting weird? If so, you have damaged hair, but the good news is that it’s not too late to begin the healing process. There are techniques and treatments for damaged hair, as well as gentle shampoos, conditioners and styling products to help bring those wrecked tresses back to life. Start these healthy new habits now to help your damaged hair look better in the short run, while bringing it back to good health in the long run.

2. A Good Trim Can Revive Damaged Hair!
If your damaged hair has a straw-like texture and good hair days are a thing of the past, the first thing you can do to make it look better and restore body is to get a trim. To accomplish good results, you don’t have to get a super short cut; you can leave some length and treat the remaining damaged hair. If you are bold enough to chop it all off, a short bob or cute pixie can undo all the damage in one clean sweep.
If you don’t want to go this extreme, however, a healthy trim with layers may be the direction to go to help your damaged locks look their best. This should be followed by a health care regimen for damaged hair, including use of a restorative shampoo, conditioner and styling products. Hair tends to be most damaged toward the tips; it’s been around the longest and had more time to be affected by the elements, styling products and processing, and other damage-causing sources.

3. Nix Hot Styling Tools When Hair is Damaged
Blow dryers, curling irons or straightening irons damage hair. Whenever possible, air dry your hair and don’t use irons on it. After using a mild shampoo and conditioner, apply a restorative styling treatment and let damaged hair dry naturally. If you really need to blow dry your hair, keep it on the lowest heat setting.
If you must use heat, prepare the hair with a fortifying leave-in conditioner, and finish with a protective spray. And make sure that the hair is completely dry before using heated tools like flat irons and curling irons so it won’t cook from the inside out.

4. Say ‘Bye-Bye’ to Chemicals, & Hair Color, At Least for Now
If your hair is extremely damaged, reconsider chemical processing for the moment.  Certain types of hair color—like harsh bleaches--can damage hair or stress hair that is already damaged.  Talk to your stylist about gentler approaches to hair color, such as ammonia-free and demi-permanent formulas.  Likewise, discuss healthier alternatives to permanent waves or straighteners—which can also be damaging to hair. Temporary smoother formulas, for example, eliminate frizz, control curl and prolong the life of a blow-dry.  A strong setting lotion or spray used with Velcro rollers can produce curl or body with minimal impact on hair health.

5. Shampoo and Conditioner Know-How For Damaged Hair

Carefully select a sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner formulated for damaged hair. Sticking with shampoos and conditioners that contain natural oils and herbs will help repair your damaged hair.

Avoid shampoos or conditioners that contain sodium laurel or laureth sulfates; these ingredients can strip your hair of its natural protective oils.

And don’t shampoo more than twice a week if possible. Shampooing too frequently can strip damaged hair and create brittleness. If your hair needs a pick-me-up, use a dry shampoo in between washings.
