So, wash day is here and you thoroughly wash, condition, and detangle those tresses. You choose the best products and styling tools to make sure your curls are popping, and they look fabulous. But then your hair dries and your curls are frizzy, undefined, and no longer cooperate. You probably did not notice that your drying technique plays a proper role in how your curls form and how long your hairstyle lasts. Drying techniques can eliminate frizz, reduce tangles, and prevent breakage. Are you interested in a new drying technique or want to revamp your current one? Check these out!
Plopping
Plopping is a simple and super affordable method to drying your curls. All you need is an old t-shirt. While your hair is wet, simply tie an old t-shirt around your hair. That is all! Plopping expedites your drying time and reduces frizz. It is best to not dry your curls with a towel because it can cause frizz. Another plus is that your movement is not restricted. You can plop your curls, do homework assignments, or finish house cleaning. Sarah, also know as Waterlily716, shows us how she plops her curls with a long sleeve t-shirt.
Diffusing
Diffusing is a quick way to dry your curls, especially before leaving the house. You will have to purchase a diffuser attachment at your local beauty supply store if your blow-dryer did not come with one. If you are looking for volume, this is the technique for you! Simply apply your favorite leave-in conditioner and styler to your hair and use the diffuser as if you are scrunching. Flip your hair upside down for more volume. Volume queen Taren Guy shows us how she diffuses her hair.
Air-Drying
Air-drying is also a simple technique. After you rinse your conditioner, apply your favorite products with whatever technique that you use (rake, smooth, etc.) and that is all! If you plan to lounge around the house for awhile, then place a t-shirt around your neck to catch the dripping water and product. Just let your hair dry. Although it may be difficult, try to avoid touching your curls while drying, as this can cause frizz. However, one thing that you have to remember with air-drying is that drying time will vary. Alba, also know as SunKiss Alba, shows how she styles her hair and how she uses the air-drying technique.
Microfiber Towels and Gloves
The DevaCurl DevaTowel and DevaCurl DevaGloves have microfiber fabric that you can use to dry your hair. The gloves are simple to use. After you rinse your condition, flip your head upside down and scrunch your curls to remove excess water from your hair and add volume. Then, continue with desired hairstyle. The microfiber will help to reduce the amount of frizz and the scrunching method will help to keep your curls defined. The Devachan Salon and Spa shows how to use the DevaCurl Towel and DevaCurl DevaGloves.
